Snow Day - Day 5, and we're bored. So we're gonna board!

Love this picture. Mike calls it his Bigfoot picture. Too bad it was a little blurry. . . . but I think the original bigfoot picture was too!

We went snowboarding at the Turley's home. They are always offering their long steep hill for sledding whenever it snows. Well, for the kids, I guess. But none of our kids wanted to slide down it. So the grown-ups did. Look at my sweet husband carrying my snowboard back up the hill for me!

And he's off again!

Here's little Emil. He was the only kid that stayed outside and played in the snow. He's got some natural snowboarding ability and we had fun watching him slide down the hill. His dad, aka big Emil was also a partner in crime. Check out his gloves!

The gloves? 2 parts - old, worn out leather gloves (missing the top of one finger) covered with blue latex gloves for waterproofing. Very ingenious. You should have seen how we waterproofed Shane's shoes with plastic grocery bags.

Well that's what we did all day. Ride down the hill. Hike up the hill with heavy snowboard. Repeat. It was maybe 30 degrees outside but I got SOOOO hot and sweaty carrying the snowboards back up the hill. Coat had to come off. But it was fun. And sweet Nancy and Felton Turley and Marci watched our kids in the house while we played. Thank you Turleys and Marci! It was a great day considering we're still waiting around for the snow to melt!

Snow Day!

Well the big storm is here! No school today, of course. Or tomorrow. We spent the evening with our friends. This snow storm has been big news around here for a few days now. There were runs on the grocery stores and everyone assumed school would be canceled even 2 days before it snowed a drop. So here's what we did.

Sunday evening.

Sunday evening, a couple hours later. This is a lot of snow for Georgia.

Ginger didn't even try to walk. She just sat down and stared at all this white cold stuff.

Of course we brought the snowboards to play with.

Wyatt and Grover played around for a long time.

This snow had a 1-inch thick layer of ice on top. Everything was covered in ice today. Ginger wasn't even heavy enough to break through.

Shane's getting good, don't you think?

I love this picture. I thought Wyatt was pushing an empty tote around the road. Yes, in Georgia, this is a redneck sled.

Then, Grover popped up.

Well, that's all the pictures I got today. Marci and I walked to grocery store. When we got there, it wasn't crowded at all. Unfortunately, half the stuff on the grocery list was sold out. So we got our few items and trudged back to the Girardins house. On the way home we took a shortcut and made the 1 1/2 mile trip home in 25 minutes. I think my legs are gonna be sore tomorrow. More snow fun tomorrow!

Wyatt's Birthday . . . last month!

Happy Birthday Wyatt! Wyatt turned 3 on December 19th (Okay I KNOW it's January but I still wanted to post the pictures). He was pretty excited about his birthday. He kept asking me, "Do you have a special surprise for me?" We were going to have a little party with our friends but all the kiddos were recovering from Scarlet Fever. Anyhow, our little Wyatt had a fun party at home. Here's the pictures of the event!

I love how Shane is just chillin' watching his little brother open presents.

Wyatt is the tool man. He has 2 or 3 toolboxes and plenty of tools to fill them all. Here's one more and it's real!

Daddy even shared a bit of his fruitcake with Wyatt. These boys are their father's sons. They love fruitcake just like their dad!

This is what Wyatt looks like when you say, "Smile!" Sometimes I say it randomly throughout the day, just so I can see that face.

Ginger was feasting on the decorative straws on a pre-Christmas present for the kids from Aunt Anna.

Wyatt had birthday cookies this year.

Shane is pulling quite a few faces in pictures lately but what a cute bunch!

I punched out the center of the cookies where all the wax melted. Cookies are more fun that way anyway.

Here's Ginger mangling and stuffing a cookie in her face. Note the wet ring of drool on her shirt. This is why Ginger goes through 5 or 6 bibs in a day. She's the drool queen. As of today, she has 7 teeth. Maybe that has something to do with it.

All in all it was a fun little party. Wyatt enjoyed his gifts very much. Thanks to all our thoughtful family that sent him cards and presents. He is a happy 3 year old and we love him "to infinity and beyond!"
